I will probably only be organsing one more 5 a side event this year. Due to a number of reasons I'm not sure when that will be.

I'd be happy to help but cant guarantee I can do it every fortnight! Maybe two of us can help organise games. What do you think Ray?

OK for anyone who hasn't seen the thread regarding the football cage in south shields Mez has suggested that we have a kickabout there sometime. See the thread here: http://www.friendsnortheast.co.uk/viewt ... 545#142545

It's fair to say that I'm keen to get playing again and I was wondering if anyone out there had any ideas of venues that we could book. I was under the impression that Gateshead Lesiure Centre would be open by now but when I checked the website said April! Ideally we need a pitch near a Metro. Anyone got any suggestions.

I would be prepared to organise, although that would limit it to Tuesday nights.

Anyway have a look at Mez' thread and hopefully we can get five a side started up in some form soon

cheers

I'd be interested - Tuesday is the only night I can't make it though, I already play a regular 5-a-side game that night.

Soccerworld on West rd is ok - it isn't near a metro but should be good for buses.

Or there's indoors at Eldon Leisure.

The two Powerleague centres are in Gateshead/Dunston and Royal Quays in North Shields - but probably both are a bit awkward without a car.

the best place i know of is jjb at royal quays. Meadow well metro is 10 -15 mins away. cost about 4 quid a man from memory but thats air con and completly netted out so no running for miles after the ball.

OK, as you can probably guess by now I'm desperate to revive this!

I have just come off the phone with Gateshead Stadium as I had completely forgot that they have five a side pitches there as well.

They cost £38.50 for the hour (or £34.40 if you have an active card), which is more than we paid at the Elgin Centre but the playing surface and facilities are alot better.

They also told me that Gateshead Leisure Centre opens on the 19th April. So, what do people think?

Does the stadium sound like a possibility or do people like the idea of going back to the Leisure centre when it reopens? There is some sort of 'sneak preview' open day on the 17th which we could go along to and check out the new facilities.

As ever let me know what you think.

Cheers

Hi Lee, like your self I am interested in playing again.

Why don't you take over from Ray and arrange the 5 a side. I can't do it as I have a baby daughter dew in May.

I'm up for playing - if it's a month til the other centre opens, then we could give the stadium a try in the meantime.
